Always to the work of man, since  they are his exclusive creatures, the origin and diffusion of Computer Viruses is due to. In spite of its human origin, the computer virus follows, how it multiplies and spreads inside other hosts, the same rules biological viruses [1] make use of, and this is an evidence that nature laws are also applied to the exclusive work of man as a descendant of nature itself.

The other consideration, a quite philosophical one, is that also virtual viruses, somehow, oppose the excessive proliferation of computers, their survival machines, by stopping their functioning, and, in a certain sense, they could perform the ecological function of a virtual demographic regulation. We could even suppose that mechanisms at negative feedback may be basic also in a computer field to prevent the excessive proliferation of the components of the system from the collapse of the system itself.

[1] The phases of infection, assimilation, duplication and diffusion are the same both for biological viruses and computer ones. As for IBM and Symantec, an antivirus company, they are thinking of elaborating “digital vaccines” that can pervent hackers from damaging Internet. Instead of antigens the computer immune system should, according to the project operators, be able to recognize the 16-30 bytes typical of the virus and elaborate a defence system before the virus can spread.
