THE KILLER NURSE

Recently cases of killer hospital attendants are frequent enough, following faithfully moreover, after ten years as it often happens, American situation. Only one among several killer hospital attendants was sentenced to life imprisonment: it’s the case of Angelo Stazzi, better known as” The Angel of death”.

The killer hospital attendant would kill his victims by giving them massive doses of insulin and, in two cases, of psychomedicines to patients who didn’t suffer from diabetes at all.

Yet his punishment to life imprisonment wasn’t due to the homicides of his patients but because he was recidivous since he had been sentenced to 24 years for one of his colleagues’ murder: a nurse, a friend of his, who, after lending him some money more than once, claimed to have it back.

Besides, Sonia Caleffi, another killer nurse, sentenced  to twenty years’ imprisonment in 2008 to have murdered, between 2003 and 2004, five patients with air injections, and from next February she will be allowed to enjoy, with dismay of the victims’ relatives, the first permission prizes.

This decision, like other cases, always goes together with the mantra of repentance: Sonya writes a lot and works as well. She transfers data into a computer for a social cooperative. She keeps in touch, with outside, with many letters to friends, acquaintances, family but also with her lawyers. But this is quite a different matter it’s useless to tell about in this historical-politial phase.

On the contrary I’d like speaking, because it’s quite pertinent to the theses of                 “The Intelligent Virus”, about the last case of a killer nurse. Daniela Poggiali, a forty-two-year-old nurse, was arrested for a very serious charge: homicide with more than one aggravating circumstance which caused damage to Rosa Calderoni, 78 years of age, dead at the hospital “Umberto I” in Lugo last 8th  April.

The court order of preventive detection presents elements Alessandro Mancini, the Chief Prosecutor, defined very intersting under a criminal anthropological point of view. According to the gip ( investigating magistrate) who ordered the arrest, the ex-nurse of Lugo would kill by injecting potassium and then would have tried to hide evidences. We can read it on the third page of the court order:”I t was just Poggiali to remove all medical-surgical devices from Calderoni’s lifeless body: either the ones that weren’t compromising( the bottles which were put where it was ordered by the hospital administration) or the tube( dirty with potassium and therefore thrown away separately trying to hide it)”.

We can always read in the document the nurse should have given the patients, looked after by her colleagues she didn’ like, some laxatives. To spite them, so her colleagues” should have to clean them”. Having been fired, the nurse couldn’t have damaged patients any longer, but the judge decides that” a personality, like the described one, commits crimes for self-congratulation and her behaviour is such as to express itself in every contest of life”.

Essentially the judge considers the nurse to be socially dangerous, for this reason he has decided her arrest. Also the episode of the photos where Poggiali got herself portrayed together with the corpse of a just dead old lady is decisive for this choice. Images, taken by a colleague who will be fired too, that show the nurse, first, imitating the expression of the corpse, then” exultant, joyful and smiling with her thubs up”. “Two photos – the judge writes she commented with the sentence ” life and death…..”. Also on this there is an inquiry for corpse contempt.

Now I’d like stopping on that sentence we can find in the court order of preventive detention:” a personality, like the described one, commits crimes for self-congratulation” and on the photos that portray her exultant, joyful and smiling with her thumbs up by the corpse of the patient she killed. According to the theses of ” The Intelligent Virus” the behaviour of this killer nurse points out a genetic tendency to aggressiveness, a quite right thing noticed by the judge. No other other thesis but the one of the genetic feedback mechanism acting in human population( mechanism at genetic feedback 2°) can explain such cases whose frequency has shown the absolutely epidemic feature in Italy as well as abroad.

At the moment this reference is enough also because we have thought this episode couldn’t be neglected since we will stop long on the subject when we include, on the blog, the post concerning the fifth  chapter of” The Intelligent Virus”( The Rebellious Angels ) dealing with the genetic tendency to unjustified aggressiveness and homicide, even serial, according to the mechanism of genetic  feedback acting in human population 1 (and mechanism at genetic feedback acting in human population 2).
