Leonardo Da Vinci’s Sexuality

Also Leonardo’s sexual orientation was influenced by his childhood. According to Freud, but also in my opinion, Leonardo’s homosexuality is more an intellectual orientation than a physical one and a kind of frigidity. We can sense this from the way Leonardo designs some anatomic studies concerning sexual intercourse.

Let’s read what Freud says about the man’s face in this design:

“Iven the fitures of his face, in the man’s feminine head, reveal a cliarly vexed endurance. His aiebraus are froaund, his look turned to a side with an expression of disgust, the lips are closed and their corners pulled downwards. This face doesn’t really reveal ider the pleasure of the love offer or the delight to enjoy it; it shows only nuisence and disgust”.

But, above all, one can understand Leonardo’s frigidity from his words conserning sexual intercourse: The act of copulation and the members involved are so nasty that if it were not for the beauty of the faces and the ornaments of the persons involved and the wild disposition, netare would lose the human species.”

Leonardo’s frigidity didn’t come from neurotic attitudes, but because he was much more interested in the research on the meaning of life.  His childhood greatly influenced this aspect of his life. If Leonardo had had a normal family, with a father and one mother, he wouldn’t havehad such a personality and maybe Leonardo would have gone on painting with all his mastery.
