Three massacres in four weeks only: these are the data of the summer of 2019 coming from America. The first one in California, committed by a nineteen year old fellow who fired into the mob of the Garlic Festival of Gilorly and killed three persons as young as he was, that is 6,13 and 25 years old respectively and at last he hurt himself mortally. A second shooting, after only one week from the previous one, took place in the suburbs of El Paso, in Texas, in the very frequented shopping centre Cielo Vista; the results of this crime, caused by hate, were more dramatic. It was carried out by a twenty year old man from Dallas with supermacist ideas and there were 22 dead people and 24 injured. The third massacre always happened in Texas, between the towns of Midland and Odessa, where a thirty year old man, while driving a confiscated mail van, fired at the passers-by after being stopped by a police patrol; there were 7 dead persons and 19 injured.
In accordance with these news we could have a debate on the fact that, in America, it’s extremely simple to own a weapon to spread about terror and death (we have already dealt with it in the post “Will you have a weapon? You can buy it in any village fair! Incredible, but true!” from “The Intelligent Virus”).
Anyway what surprises us most about these last mass massacres is the scanty interest of media; in fact everybody knows the one that is known as the first of the American massacres when Charles Withmann, on 1 st August 1966, murdered 16 people by shooting with sniper rifles from the tower of Austin university in Texas. In fact the images of the American homicide appeared on the first pages of all the dallies in every country days and days and this way they could reveal, from time to time, new details about the day of exceptional madness Withmann spent before his death. Everybody has heard about the most recent massacre in Las Vegas which happened on 1st October 2017 in the evening when Stephen Paddock, a man aged 64, fired from two windows on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel into the crowd during a concert in the streets of Las Vega Strip; it was considered the bloodiest massacre in the history of USA since it caused 59victims and 851 injured. All media, all over the world, were greatly interested in the piece of news.
The latter, on the contrary, are “silent massacres” since newspapers and media haven’t considered interesting enough as to be spread about and in the those rare cases when this happens, even though we admit they aren’t so serious as the two above-mentioned emblematic ones, in our opinion they are superficially reviewed. Now massacres aren’t so unusual events as if they were considered natural episodes. And if were they really like that? And if might massacres really be a means through which Nature, tending to genetic homeostasis, controls and stops the exponential growth of human population according to the theory of the system of regulation at genetic feedback (genetic retroaction or negative retroaction) ?
